About Us

Founded by Emily Bacon in 2025, Arven House is a curated antique retailer and design studio dedicated to bringing history, craftsmanship, and character into modern interiors.

Founded on a love of European decorative arts, Arven House sources antique furnishings and objects primarily from England and France. Each piece is chosen not only for its age, but for its beauty, proportion, and ability to live comfortably in contemporary homes.

We believe the most compelling interiors are not designed all at once, but are collected over time. Antiques carry stories, craftsmanship, and patina that cannot be replicated by new production furniture. These qualities create spaces that feel layered, authentic, and deeply personal.

A Curated Approach

At Arven House, every piece is personally selected. We travel regularly to England and France to visit markets, estates, and long-established dealers in search of exceptional antiques.

Rather than focusing on a single period, we are drawn to pieces that share a common sense of timelessness. We source objects that feel as relevant today as they did decades or centuries ago.

Our collection may include:

  • English country furniture

  • French provincial pieces

  • antique tables, cabinets, and seating

  • decorative objects and lighting

  • architectural elements

Each item is chosen with the intention that it will integrate beautifully into modern living.

Antiques in Modern Interiors

Our philosophy centers on the belief that antiques make interiors richer and more interesting. A single antique piece can anchor a room, adding warmth, depth, and individuality.

Rather than creating spaces that feel overly styled or period-specific, we design interiors that feel natural and collected. Our goal is to create a space where antique furnishings live alongside contemporary elements.

This balance creates homes that feel both timeless and livable.

Design Services

In addition to our curated antique collection, Arven House offers interior design services for residential projects.

Our design work focuses on creating thoughtful, layered spaces where antiques play a meaningful role. From sourcing key statement pieces to furnishing entire homes, we approach each project with an emphasis on proportion, material, and atmosphere.

We work with clients locally and remotely to develop interiors that feel both refined and personal.

A Living Collection

Because antiques are one-of-a-kind, the Arven House collection is constantly evolving. Each sourcing trip brings new discoveries and dictates each of our launches. We look for pieces that carry the beauty of craftsmanship and history forward into the present.

Arven House exists to connect those pieces with homes where they will continue their story for generations to come.

Why Antiques?

Antiques bring something to a home that newly manufactured furniture rarely can; depth, authenticity, and a sense of history.

At Arven House, antiques are not simply decorative objects. They are pieces of craftsmanship that have endured for generations and continue to bring character to modern interiors.

Craftsmanship That Endures

Many antique pieces were built by skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques and high-quality materials. Solid woods, hand joinery, and careful detailing allowed these pieces to last for decades, or even centuries.

Their longevity is a testament to the level of care that went into their creation.

Natural Patina and Character

Over time, materials develop a richness that cannot be artificially reproduced. Wood softens in tone, finishes deepen, and surfaces acquire subtle marks from years of use.

This patina gives antiques a warmth and authenticity that makes a space feel lived-in and inviting.

Interiors That Feel Collected

Homes filled entirely with newly manufactured furniture can often feel uniform or overly designed.

Antiques introduce variation including different eras, materials, and craftsmanship, that give a room depth and personality. Even a single antique piece can transform a space by adding contrast and visual interest.

A Sustainable Choice

Choosing antiques is also one of the most sustainable ways to furnish a home. These pieces already exist, have proven their durability, and continue to be used rather than replaced.

In this way, antiques represent a form of thoughtful reuse that honors both craftsmanship and resources.

Pieces With a Story

Every antique carries a history. Whether it once lived in a country house in England or a provincial home in France, each piece has passed through generations before arriving in its next home.

Bringing antiques into your space means becoming part of that story.

Living With Antiques

Antiques are not fragile relics. They were made to be used. A well-built antique table can still host gatherings, a cabinet can store everyday objects, and a chair can remain part of daily life.

Their beauty lies in their continued use.
